Vets of the Afghanistan War– Please Read

A statistic I read earlier…. 70% of the Afghan population are under 18 years of age, and that means they lived their whole lives under US occupation. Girls were being educated, men lived freer lives, elections were held, access to electricity went from a tiny fraction of the population to 97% during this time. Afghanistan even had athletes at the Tokyo Olympics. We made a real and tangible difference in the lives of the people in Afghanistan.

The political stupidity that is happening now can never take away from the difference we made in those lives, and neither can the horrors the Taliban use to try to suppress the people. I pray for the Afghani people to be able to stand up under the crushing pressure, and for the rest of the world to have the courage to do the right thing by them, and our military vets to be able to see the real difference they made both for the Afghan people, and for our country as well by rooting out Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and reducing the threat of terrorism on our shores.
